SM5KWU / OH6FIJ  Hannu J. Haanpää...

....born in 1952 in Helsinki, Finland.

Amateur Radio came to me at the end of -70 s, when I received my first ham radio licence, so called T-certificate 1979, a technical license that allowed traffic on VHF and above. It was not long until I realized that if you want to access DX must master telegraphy, which is superior telephony in these contexts and my telegraphy exercises started. C-certificate became a reality for me through exam Juni 1981, and shortwave was available to play on. A few months later I was able to make the exam for B-certificate (60 LPM) and in August 1982 A-certificate (80 LPM) was valid and all amateur bands and modes allowed for SM5KWU!
